Messages and chat
Send direct messages to people from your events, attach files and reach the iveo team through support, all in the messages window at the bottom right.
You don’t need to leave iveo for a quick word. Everyone who is signed in has a messages window that is available on every page. From there you send a direct message to other people from your events or ask the iveo team for help.
Opening the messages window
The round button at the bottom right opens your messages. A number on it shows how many unread messages are waiting for you. On a phone, the window fills the whole screen.
Other ways lead to the same window:
- the “New message” entry in the user menu,
- a click on the picture of someone who is online right now.
If a message arrives while the window is closed, a short preview appears with “Reply” and “Open”.
Starting a conversation
At the top of the window is a search field: “Search people or conversations…”. Type a name to find existing conversations and people you haven’t written to yet. Pick a person, the conversation opens, and you can start writing.
Who you can find depends on your role. Organisers and programme organisers only find the teams of their own programme items. All other roles, producers for example, find everyone they share an event with. Everyone can find iveo Support, and existing conversations always carry on.
If someone sends a message to many people at once, it arrives for you as a conversation of its own, and you reply only to the sender.
Writing, files and read status
- Text: Type your message into “Write a message…” and send it with “Send”. A message you’ve started stays put, even if you reload the page.
- Files: “Attach file” sends images, PDFs, Office documents and text files, each up to 10 MB.
- Live: If the other person is typing, it says so below the conversation. Once they’ve read your last message, “Seen” appears below it.
“Back” takes you from a conversation to the list. Escape also takes you back to the list, and on the list it closes the window. To remove a conversation, use “Remove” in the list.
Reaching iveo Support
“iveo Support” always sits at the very top of the list. There, “New request” sends a question to the iveo team, with a subject and a message. Under “Your requests” you see all your requests so far with their status: “Open”, “In progress” or “Closed”. If you reply to a closed request, it opens again.
The member of the iveo team who answers you appears by first name above the reply, for example “Anna from iveo”. To send a file, attach it in the thread right after sending the request.
Notifications
Whether new direct messages also show up in your bell is set under My settings in the “Notifications” tab with “Mentions & messages”. “Emails about messages” also sends you messages addressed to many people by email.
Privacy
Only the two people in a conversation see a direct message. Support requests are handled by the iveo team. You open attachments through a link that expires after a short time. How your data is handled is described on the page Data protection and hosting.
